Passports Frequently Asked Questions

The Clerk of Board of Supervisors does NOT process passport renewals. Passports can be renewed online by visiting the U.S. Department of States website.
To apply for a passport, you will need a completed DS-11 application, proof of U.S. Citizenship, proof of identity, passport photo (2x2), and a cashier’s check or money order. For more information visit the U.S. Department of States website.

For routine services for a passport book, you will receive your passport in 6-8 weeks from the day your application is received. For routine services for a passport card, you will receive your passport card in 4-6 weeks from the day your application is received. For expedited services, you will receive your passport book in 2-3 weeks from the day your application is received. 1-2 delivery services are available after your passport book has been printed. Passport cards cannot be expedited.
Both parents must be with the minor at the start of the appointment. Original copies of U.S. citizenship, evidence of parental relationship, photo identification of both parents, passport photo for the minor (we can take the photo), and the passport fees. Yes, please park at the County garage located at 725 7th Street. Parking will be validated at reception.
Each application will require a cashier's check or money order. Fees payable to the U.S. Department of State must be paid with a cashier's check or money order. Fees payable to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors can be paid via cash, check, money order, or card ($35 processing fee must be paid with a cashier's check or money order).​
You must apply for a new passport and will need a DS-64 form when you apply for your new passport. Visit the U.S. Department of States website for more information.
No, a new DS-11 application for a passport must be submitted.
The difference is the cost and travel restrictions. You can only gain entry to the U.S.A., Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, and Caribbean countries by land or sea. The card is NOT valid for international travel by air. Visit the U.S. Department of States website for more information.​​
