The Office of the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors is a designated passport acceptance facility and authori
zed to receive passport applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. Our on-site passport agents can help you submit your passport application correctly to avoid any delays. Applications are then submitted to the U.S. Department of State to issue a passport. We also offer passport photos that are printed while you wait.
Our office is unable to process passport renewals. Information about how to renew your passport is available on the U.S. Department of State's website. Hours of Operation

Processing Time with Mailing Options
Standard Processing
- 4 to 6 weeks – no additional fees. Processing times begin the day we receive your application at our passport acceptance facility. This does not include mailing times which may add several weeks on to the door-to-door time it takes to receive your passport.
Expedited Processing
- 2 to 3 weeks - $60 for each application. Processing times begin the day we receive your application at our passport acceptance facility. This does not include mailing times which may add several weeks on to the door-to-door time it takes to receive your passport.
Expedited Mailing
You may choose one or both of the following shipment options:
- Delivering application to the Department of State: Pay for Priority Mail Express for faster shipping. The price for this service is $26.35.
- Returning the passport to you: Pay $21.36 for 1–2-day delivery. This means you will receive your passport 1-2 days after the Department of State sends it. Include this fee with your check or money order payable to the U.S. Department of State.
What to Bring
Please ensure you have all necessary documents when you visit for passport services:
- Completed DS-11 application form (do not sign it until instructed by the passport agent)
- Proof of U.S. citizenship (e.g., birth certificate, naturalization certificate)
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license)
- Passport photo (or use our on-site photo service)
- Applicable fees (check or money order made payable to 'U.S. Department of State' and 'Sacramento County Clerk of the Board')
For minors under 16:
- Both parents/guardians must be present
- Child's birth certificate
