The purpose of the South Sacramento Conservation Agency JPA is to oversee implementation of the South Sacramento Habitat Conservation Plan (SSHCP) including the acquisition of land or easements to form the SSHCP preserve system; implementation of proposals for restoration of species habitat and aquatic resources; formation of management and monitoring plans to maintain the preserve system; and ensuring compliance with the conditions of the SSHCP and associated permits. The Agency is also responsible for the establishment and modification of fees; approval of the Agency's annual report; and approval of the Agency's annual budget.
The South Sacramento Habitat Conservation Plan (SSHCP) is a regional effort that will provide development and infrastructure projects with streamlined, predictable federal and state permitting processes while creating a preserve system to protect habitat, open space, and agricultural lands. The governing hearing body welcomes public participation at the meetings and conducts meetings in the manner pursuant to the Ralph M. Brown Act, Section 54950, of the California Government Code.
